2006 Captain's Report

It’s hard to believe the start of the season is just around to corner. Wasn’t it just a few days ago we were closing up the club house and putting boats away after the Hoosier Regatta? Apparently not!

This season, like most in my memory, will start with the Indy Open Lightning Regatta at Giest Reservoir. It could be sunny and warm or we could be sailing in the sleet and snow. We’ll hope for the best, either way, I’ll be there because I’m so ready to start the season again! Be there, if you can.

From there it’s a short leap to Memorial Day and the real start of sailing for 2006 at Wawasee. This is going to be a great year. The wind and weather is going to cooperate with warm sunny days and moderate winds every Sunday. The power boat traffic will be reduced because of the cost of gas. Let’s look at high gas prices in the most positive way, better for sailing.

As Fleet Captain, my goal is to average 10 boats on the line for the season. Please be sure to let me know of any possible crew so we can help everybody participate as much as possible. Let’s make this the best year ever with good competition and good participation.

Think Spring, think wind, think sailing,

Brad Wagnon,
Fleet Captain
