Eligibility
Must be between the ages of 8 and 15 years old

Scoring

All races scored will accumulate toward the season championship to encourage participation. There will be three throw outs available for this year, which would allow you to miss a weekend and still compete. Total points awarded will be based on finish and number of boats competing. However, you must participate in two weekends to be eligible for awards
Brief ceremony at the end of each day to recognize individual performance
If enough participants, we will break into age groups for season ending awards

Equipment
Optimist Prams only

Bring your own or use WYC owned boats under the following rules:
º  Prams must be replaced on racks and all parts properly stowed upon return to shore
º  Repair or replace any damaged or lost parts while in your possession
º  No reserving specific boats allowed. First come, first served for boat selection
º  If more racers than boats, we will rotate between races on the water
º  Skippers found not following these rules will be immediately ineligible for use of club-owned boats
Bring your own life jacket, foul weather gear and refreshments

2007 Optimist Pram Racing Summary
Season two of Opti racing on Lake Wawasee saw considerable improvement by the participants. The starts were competitive and the racing closer than in the first season. (Note we are incorporating some throw outs this year, which would have changed the results from last year.) Participation was almost the same from season one, with a slight decline on the biggest day. Once again, we got three+ races in for five Saturdays in a row. Amazing.

Top six finishers from last season:
1. John Call
2. Bradey Wright
3. Michael Schmahl
4. Bob Fritsch
5. Will Fritsch
6. Andrew Schmahl

If your child is considering participation but intimidated by racing, we will do everything possible to make them feel comfortable. The racing is held (barely) off the Yacht Club pier, and the courses are easy to understand. Going around the buoy the right way is not that important. Please feel free to call me if you have any questions.
