E-Scow Fleet Captain's Report
The 2008 season will be a new start for the fleet with the introduction of the asymmetrical rig. The down wind legs will be very exciting and competitive, all of us have to rethink the way we go down wind. There will be a bottle of champagne for the first boat to raise their asymmetrical on the first club race of Memorial Day weekend.
This year we will continue attempting to squeeze three races into Sunday morning. It was really nice to get to do that last year when the wind, moon, and stars all lined up so we could pull it off. On weekends that are favorable of three races I’ll be taking a vote on how many boats would like a third race. Don’t forget you VHF radio!!!
September marks the 25th anniversary of the Wawasee E-Scow Open, chaired by Casey Call. It will take the fleet to really make this a regatta to remember as it will also be a three day event. This regatta will be sure to bring a lot of boats and great competition, to help this happen lets all help Casey where we can.
This year the monthly awards will continue to be given out. This is a great opportunity for everyone to get an award through the season. The scoring for the monthly series will be the same as for the season scoring but there will be no excused absences and no throw outs. The June and July monthly awards will be given out at the club parties immediately following the end of those months. The August monthly awards will be given out at the season end party. The June monthly series will include Memorial Day weekend races and August series will include Labor Day weekend races.
I hope that everyone has a safe and very fun 2008 season.
Ricky Lemberg
E-Scow Fleet Captain
